Jurassic World: Evolution

When Frontier some time ago now announced it was working on a Jurassic World Evolution it just sounded awesome and I was like everyone else excited to see what we would get and well we now have it and its time for me to give my thoughts on it.

Menu

I really dont know what to say here I really am lost for words they are really nice and well laid out it’s easy to find things and I like this it’s a massive step up from Jurassic Park Operation Genesis so perfect example already of the skilled team frontier have and I love the motion in the start screen menu it just makes it feel so alive.

Music

Love this aspect every time you load up to the main menu of Jurassic World Evolution you are greeted with the Jurassic Park theme tune and I cannot help but remember the Line We Have a T. Rex and the in-game music suits it perfectly so good work on this frontier.

Streamer friendly

And even better frontier even thought of streamers and added the option to disable copyright music great feature many Devs dont even consider.

Dinosaurs & Animations

Well its a Dinosaur game so it needs well…. Dinosaurs ! and what can I say the level of detail in the textures of the dinosaurs and they way they act and sound is just superb even at lower graphics presets with vysnc on.

Of course its impossible to be 100% accurate with the Dinos behaviour because well there extinct oh well there is something undeniably cute about hatching a really big paralophosaurus (they look small in the game but wait till you get in a Gyrosphere or a huge Diplodocus then that might change holy expletive batman needed here.

also the detail and the way the big meanies of the dinosaur world act and even in JWE is impressive put a I Rex in with a T Rex and well you are going to have a case of T Rex and I Rex going in for the kill even the fight physics of JWE is impressive and watching how they circle each other and randomly attack each other is cool great work Frontier!

Animation

One other animation I think is superb is the credits roll at the start and how the frontier globe starts to crack open like an egg and the dinosaur claw comes out and scratches the letter F in the frontier name is a really neat touch and reminded me of a scene in JP1 where Hammond is in the lab and helps a baby female Raptor hatch from its egg in the incubator.

Big meanie animation

Also the detail and the way the big meanies of the dinosaur world act and even in JWE is impressive put an I Rex in with a T Rex and well you are going to have a case of T Rex and I Rex going in for the kill even the flight physics of JWE is impressive and watching how they circle each other and randomly attack each other is cool great work Frontier!.

Gameplay

Now to be totally honest the game play is superb and I have already spent nearly 100 Hrs on this game and probably will spend many more yet its just so much fun.

Mini Gripes

Yes I have some mini gripes with this title with things like level of messages telling you about not doing something right or getting a billion fines when you have a breakout but have done everything to keep guests safe and Rexie decides to eat a wandering guest(s) who decided not to get into a shelter.

Its hardly my fault is it if Rexie thought it was time for her lunch!.

Other than that I really like the managerial style in the game and its nice to see so many tycoon style games making a return over the last few years so good work on this frontier and the same goes for the in game menus everything looks great.

And the interactivity with rides is just a nice feature the dev team do well as they have shown with Planet Coaster.

If you want to check out some of the quality in this title on gameplay I recommend checking out deladysigner who is aslo very well respected in the planet coaster world.

Controls & Camera

This is one area I think like planet coaster is really well done and there is not much to say here it does take a bit of getting used to all the hotkeys but once you do it is much easier to react to things once you have it in view however the camera controls are a bit annoying with the zoom automatically zooming in and then out when deselecting.

That annoying feature was given an option to be turned off in the likes of car mechanic simulator as it was well… annoying so JWE needs one too.

In closing is it worth it?

Yes it is but at its standard price of £44.99 or £50.00 it’s a little much but considering it has added DLC now its not too bad.

Its frontier so I can see a lot of the issues I mentioned earlier being fixed at some point down the line and making this game much more worth it as you could quite easily go and spend the £49 and get Red Dead 2.
